We had air conditioned, good-sized room with windows directed towards the train railways and TV. Very competent and top-class staff; were ready to help.

Everything was perfectly fine, top-class staff, absolutely breathtaking views on garden nor outside. The setting was quite comfortable and decent within easy reach of National Museum of Costa Rica. The in-house restaurant which was good food was the best part.

A quiet haven in a slightly scruffy but very conveniently located area of San Jose. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast included a number of options, all tasty, especially the spicy sauce and cake, although obviously not together. The reception staff were excellent, very friendly, very chatty and by helpful.
Rooms were a little dated.

Compared to the other inexpensive hotels in the miserable city of San Jose, this hotel has an attractive old-fashioned look both outside and inside, decent small rooms, and an acceptable breakfast. I use it as a place to stay after arriving at the airport late and before taking the bus to the countryside early the next day.
It is next door to a commuter train station so don't plan on sleeping after 5:00 AM on weekdays...you will get tooted. If you are in route like me, that is probably no problem. But, if you are in the city for an evening's entertainment and plan on staying out late and sleeping past 5:00 AM, choose another hotel.

Marvellous and excellent location in a relatively quiet area minutes from a national park and a cathedral. Nestled minutes from bars and entertainment venues. The master suite with balcony, air con, as for instance.

Friendly helpful staff. Nice owner. The hotel itself was beautiful inside. Good complimentary breakfast with eggs, rice, beans, fresh fruit, pastries, coffee and juice.
Dark staircases at night and the proximity to the train tracks and train whistle.

Just about everything especially the staff, the bar and food
Nothing but they could use a little updating like new mattresses

We loved the architecture and the wonderful art work. We wish the bar had stayed open. We were presented with free drink coupons, the bar had closed 5 minutes earlier.

The room was large and breakfast was included and pretty good. Hard to find since there are very few signs in the city, lots of one ways. The location is very scary. Not safe to walk around especially at night. there is no decent shopping around or anything worth touring. I recommend staying outside of San Jose. It is a big city with big problems...needs cleaning, police, infrastructure. Could be a beautiful city if the govt took care of the people and city.

Service was fantastic.
They were unable to get the wireless internet to work on the second and third floor for the duration of my visit. Their smoking area for guests is only about 3 meters from the outdoor dining area. They should consider moving the smoking area away from the outdoor dining area.
